SHAKTHI FOUNDATION IN SRI LANKA

Shakthi Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organisation, which was established within Ambalangoda. The foundation was established to act as a leading force for developing communities and wild life conversation projects that are supported throughout Sri Lanka. The coast and turtle conservation projects, help to protect and rehabilitate at-risk turtles. Within Sri Lanka, turtles are under a great threat, which is why volunteers are desperately needed to help with the conservation efforts. One of the main threats is commercial fishing as this is one of the major industries in the coastal area. Turtles are often found wound up in the fisher’s nets, where they lose limbs and become disabled and so they are no longer able to survive in the wild....

SRI LANKA RENOVATION & COMMUNITY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

The main object of the community development and construction project is for volunteers to work in a number of community facilities in and around Ambalangoda, i.e, schools, government hospitals, orphanages and buddhist temples. These institutions struggle to find the funding and manpower that is needed, to undertake important development work. However, with the help and support of the volunteers within the community, we can do our bit to help leave a lasting impression.....

SRI LANKA ENGLISH TEACHING PROJECT

The English teaching programme is available for disadvantaged children who are not able to have the same education as children who do not live in poverty. This project not only encourages children to develop skills that will help them to achieve their future goals, but, conversing with fluent English speakers, will greatly improve their chances for future employment. Unlike other countries, Sri Lanka’s education system is still developing, schools do not have the same readily available resources that school....

OUR OBJECTIVES

  • Promote the development of the Health, education and Sport in the country.
  • To plan, co-ordinate and organise workshops and other programs with the objective of alleviating poverty within all Districts of Sri Lanka.
  • To build and renovate houses, hospitals, schools and community centres for the poor sectors in rural areas.
  • To manage health camps and distribute medical assistance to poor sectors within all districts of Sri Lanka.
  • To purchase medical equipment, to be used to manage the health camps and provide medical assistance with relevant parties permission and advice.
  • To provide support, books and other school equipment, free of charge to disadvantaged school children through our teaching camps.
  • To provide financial and non-financial assistance for higher education, I.e. University.
  • To conduct the activities which are related to the environmental protection, wild life conservations, coastal and marine conservation activities, replanting and restoration of natural resources.
  • To do all such other things that are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objectives, provided that such acts are in compliance with an existing laws and Regulations of Sri Lanka.
